Tinto de Verano

The Tinto de Verano is a popular drink in Spain and loosely translates to a red wine spritzer. The reason this drink is so popular is because with the soaring temperatures in Spain, the spritzer is extremely refreshing. So on hot Summer days, this is the drink to be had. Another reason for its appeal is because the recipe calls for an inexpensive table wine and it couldn't be more simple to make: take equal parts red wine and lemon flavored sparkling water, such as pellegrino (or regular club soda and a splash of lemonade), add a slice of citrus (lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit) and serve over ice.
