Spring Ahead for Spring Wine

As short and chilly days slowly make their way to longer and warmer ones, you’ll find yourself looking away from the bold, comforting wines of winter, and instead reaching for crisp, thirst-quenching choices. This makes springtime an incredibly fun time to explore new wine styles across many categories.

Rosés: Rosé is a natural choice and makes a great alternative for red wine on a warm spring day. The white berry and zesty citrus flavors of rosé wine make perfect matches to spring dishes such as grilled salmon, soft cheeses or feta and mint salad.
Whites: Sunny weather and the new season’s delicate flavors will beg for crisp and lively whites. As accompaniment to food such as fish tacos, grilled asparagus and seafood risotto, consider wines made from the delicately aromatic, fresh and citrus-driven Albarino grapes. From bone-dry to sweet, Rieslings are also great food wines.
Light Bodied Reds: Light-bodied reds have their place on a cool evening and richer reds are perfect for those late evening barbecues! Look to wines like Grenache, Gamay and Pinot Noir for easy drinking choices or Rhone Blends and Zinfandel to pair with anything grilled.

Maybe if we start drinking these now, Mother Nature will take the hint and bring the warmer weather.
